Questions we get asked
Every 30 to 90 days in the Tampa Bay humidity. Closer to 30 if you have pets or run the system hard, closer to 90 for a light-use home. A clogged filter chokes airflow and makes the whole system work harder than it needs to.
Most often a tripped breaker, a frozen evaporator coil, or low refrigerant. Check the thermostat and the breaker first, since those cost nothing to rule out. If it is still warm after that, it needs a technician rather than another hour of guessing.
At least two feet all the way around. Leaves, dirt and clippings packed against the coil are one of the most common reasons a healthy system stops keeping up, and clearing them costs nothing.
Once a system is past ten to twelve years, needs repairs more than occasionally, or your power bill starts climbing without an explanation, replacing usually costs less across the life of the equipment. When a repair is still the better answer, we will say so.
Twice a year. A Tampa Bay summer is the hardest thing a residential system ever does, and a check-over before the season is what prevents a breakdown during it. A service covers ductwork, electrical and the refrigerant charge.
